Freelance UKS Cameraman
Steve Hignett is a highly experienced television cameraman with over six years of experience. He has a military background as a former sergeant in the Royal Marine Commandos, with 22 years of service. He offers a wide range of camera skills, corporate, ENG and in a combat cameraman role. A BBC trained camera operator as well as a media handler in the military. Now a freelance tv cameraman, recently working for the BBC, Sky News, Reuters, CH4 and corporate productions. Steve is also a Final Cut Pro Editor, with thorough knowledge of Bgan, Quicklink and VPoint.
Combat cameraman: Steve was the combat camera operator for 3 Commando Brigade Royal Marines in Afghanistan in 2006. He operated with his fellow commandos in the Helmand province, filming the missions from the front line. Pictures were fed back to the UK via satellite and all major news companies used his footage for breaking news stories throughout the world. During this operation, Steve was hired by ITV Westcountry shooting for John Andrews. On leaving the service in April 2007, Steve was recommended by these major companies for civilian camera work.
Freelance cameraman: Steve now works as a freelance cameraman mainly for the BBC national news and Thomson Reuters Ltd UK. His recent work includes the G20 summit, were he gathered very interesting footage right in the middle of the riot police and protesters in a fairly hair raising demonstration.
Steve has a studio in Taunton Somerset, were he produces and edits corporate packages and produces webvideos for clients. His work includes 'green screen' filming and can produce a fully edited package within one week of filming.
